Notifications & Digests

In general, neither email notifications of new posts nor digests (daily or weekly) are sent to accounts who have NEVER signed in. An email will be sent two days before classes begin to alert students that they must sign in to the forum to receive messages, but going ahead and signing in on your own will prepare your account ahead of time, helping to make sure you don’t miss any important information.

Also note, you won’t receive email notifications for posts that you make yourself, topics that you’ve already read all of the posts for, or posts that are within a topic or category that you have unfollowed.

RFW Members vs Non-Member Usage

Regency Academe-Only Students and the RFW Forums

Regency Academe classes are held on the same forums, but access to a given classroom is set by hand before each class begins. Late registration may result in information and lessons posted prior to forum access not being sent to you in email. The posts will be in the classroom forum. Non-RFW Members will use old Academe accounts or be invited to create one if none exists.

RFW Members MUST use the single-sign-in process as described below.


RFW Members and Single-Sign-On

The forums are designed to work using a Single-Sign-On through our RFW Accounts. This means RFW Members should NEVER try log in or reset their password directly on the forums. The ONLY place RFW Members should sign in or change/request passwords is on the Manage My RFW Account page.

Brand new RFW members may take up to 24 hours to get set up correctly on the forums, especially if their new account uses the same email address as a previous Regency Academe account.

How RFW Members Sign-In to the RFW Forums:

1) Sign in using the Manage My RFW Account page.
2) Click the RFW Forums tab on the navigation menu.
3) If you hit the “No Forum Access” Page, go back to the Manage My RFW Account page and sign out and then start again at step 1 to update/sync your browser’s cookies.

Something Went Wrong!

If an RFW member hits a page with an image of a carriage accident and the words “No Forum Access”, please be sure to sign in using the Manage My RFW Account page. You will not be able to access the member-only forums if you are not signed in or your membership has lapsed.

The Forum is asking me to Log In!

RFW Members should NEVER try to log in or reset their password directly on the forums. The ONLY place RFW Members should sign in or change/request passwords is on the Manage My RFW Account page as described in the steps above.


Info For All Forum Users

Cookies and the RFW Forums

If you visit thebeaumonde.com and the forums regularly to keep your browser’s cookies updated, you should have no problem following links from the forum emails and getting taken there directly. If you are an RFW member are asked to log in on the forums, go back to the Sign-In steps above.


Is there a digest version?

Yes! The forums are set to daily digests as the default. Unfortunately, you cannot set one forum category to be on digest mode and the rest to immediate emails or vice versa — it’s an all or nothing option.

The default option is to receive Daily digests of all eligible content. But please note: neither email notifications of new posts nor digests (daily or weekly) are sent to accounts who have NEVER signed in on the forums.

Daily digests are sent out around 6am Eastern with the subject, “Today’s updates to your followed content”.

To change your preferences:

1) Visit the forum
2) Click on your Profile at the far right of the purple banner
3) Select “Settings” from pull down menu.
4) Scroll down to the Preferences section and click on the box for the frequency you would like the forum to Email Followed Content: “Weekly, Daily or Immediately”.

We do not recommend “Never” as that requires you to always visit the forum to participate in any conversations or courses.

If you have not visited the forum in over a week, you will receive an email with the subject, “The RFW Forums Digest” that contains “…the top topics at The RFW Forums since last week.” no matter what your preferences are.

Can I reply to forum posts by email?

YES! You can reply to individual posts by simply hitting REPLY to the email. Please note, you cannot reply to digests. Digests do have several useful links which, if you’ve signed in using the Manage My RFW Account page recently, should take you right there so you can reply with the bonus that whole digests never get copied into the replies!


Help, I’m not getting any forum emails!

Please note: neither email notifications of new posts nor digests (daily or weekly) are sent to accounts who have NEVER signed in on the forums. So if you’ve never visited the forums, please do so!

Check your spam/junk folder for anything from regencyfictionwriters.org or thebeaumonde.com and mark it as not spam/not junk! You should also add the following addresses for various Regency Fiction Writers programs to your contacts so your email client/provider knows you want to receive email from them:

If you’re still not receiving emails, check your email address is correct on the Manage My RFW Account page.
